Supporting organisations
Projects and culture building
Most organisations know they need a culture that retains their best staff, helps people grow and motivates them to perform at their best.
A harder question is knowing where to start and having the senior capacity to turn goals into action.
I can provide experienced leadership to your critical people and culture projects.
I’ll help define what you need people to do differently, diagnose why that’s not yet happening, and design practical solutions.
“Matt has helped me to navigate some complex and inter-related topics so that I come out of conversations with him with a clear path forward”
Organisations most suited to this type of support.
You know you need to invest in your people and build a learning culture that drives performance.
Typically you have between 30 and 200 people. You may be growing fast, managing multiple teams or juggling a lot of needs with minimal resources.
But a full-time hire isn't yet the right move. You need external, senior input to meet your goals and ease your project backlog.
Four types of situations I’ve supported and how I approach each one.
Starting out
You may be saying: ‘We have limited capacity and we’re not sure where to start with people development’
I help anchor your learning strategy to your business goals. I will work to identify the specific skills needed to meet your business goal, and build a development offer that pulls in the same direction as the company.
Building core elements
You may be saying: ‘We’re growing fast and we need to improve onboarding for new joiners’
Onboarding shouldn’t be a spectator sport. I create experiences that immerse new staff in your culture from day one. They build the right relationships, grasp the real goals, and hit their stride faster.
Evolving
You may be saying: ‘‘We need to retain and recycle critical knowledge throughout the business’
I design processes that help your teams learn faster, repeat what works, and stay resilient when key people move on.
Institutional knowledge becomes a structural asset rather than a personal one. Read my Train-the trainer programme case study
Expanding our offer
You may be saying:‘We have technical expertise locked in a few heads and we need to spread it across the business’
If technical experts know the details but struggle to teach them, I translate complex knowledge into workshops, toolkits and communities that stick. Read my case study of AI Adoption at Nesta Group.
The ‘Core-4’ approach I bring to business challenges
I use the ‘Core-4’ to bring structured curiosity and critical thinking to your problem.
01 Define: I’ll ask the right questions to understand what's actually going on, what's been tried before, and what success would genuinely look like.
02 Diagnose: I’ll use methods from behavioural science to understand why you’ve not met that goal yet.
03 Design: I’ll use the insights from stage 1-2 to design solutions that are most likely to solve the problem.
04 Deliver: I’ll either help you deliver the solutions directly or give you a clear, detailed plan to deliver them internally.
It is tempting to skip straight to designing solutions but it’s crucial to start by understanding which conditions are missing and why. That way, solutions address the underlying cause, which makes them more likely to stick.
Format and pricing
Team development is always bespoke, so I don’t use fixed price lists. As a guide, I charge $1500/day for delivery and $1100/day for planning (£1200/£850).
We start with a scoping call. After that, I’ll send a fixed price proposal within 24 hours.
The cost depends on the complexity of your goals and the number of people involved

If you're unsure of your exact need, that's normal. Most projects start with awareness that something needs to change but not necessarily the clarity on how to change it.
